Salt and Light

Christianity

Matthew 5:13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

In these verses Jesus is speaking to us to be the salt and light of the world.

God is the salt of our Earth. He enhances our lives during our time here just as salt enhances the flavoring of food. Salt is used to store and keep food fresh. Similarly, He uses His salt to keep us restored and freshly alive every day when we face the world. He wants us to salt the Earth with His love, hope, grace, and faith.

A smile, hug, reminder, or piece of advice are examples of salt we can use to keep the world alive with God. Spreading his word. Being yourself. It is so easy, and God will be so proud you are being salty (in the right way) (; .
As a Christian, it is so important to sprinkle salt wherever we are. Enhance your life with God and enhance others’ lives with His salt. Restore yourself every day with God just as the use of salt restores food. Keep the Earth fresh and knowing of God each day.
God is our light. He keeps us beaming and glowing. I love seeing Christians who are so on fire for God that you can always tell He is shining through them. You and I need this light of God. How amazing would it be if we all had this light shining through us? Wow!! This is what His light intends to do. He is working through us to shine light to others. How do non believers become believers? They recognize this light. How do people overcome their darkness? They recognize the light God will give.  The simple ways of spreading light are small, but the impact is so big.

Be that lamp in the darkness.

Be that lit up candle when everyone has blown theirs out.

Be the epitome of light.

No matter where your journey with God is, know that he has put into your heart to BE the salt and light of the world to preserve Him and shine the love to others. Just as Jesus was a salt and light to others, he taught his disciples to be salt and light. Now we as disciples have the ability to do the same.

There is no better happiness to be shared than the light and salt of God.

As believers, we are called to shine this light and be salt to the world.
