I hope you are having a BLESSED day!!!
Today I want to touch on the topic of idols.
an image or representation of a god used as an object of worship.
We only have one God. Our God. The God that gave us life and is constantly giving us life.
What things in your life do you feel have priority over God? What are you idolizing?
Is your idol romantic relationships, social media, achievements, shallow things you do to fulfill yourself, a cause you believe so much in or your appearance? Whos affirmation do you need so badly? What consumes your thoughts the most? What contributes to the stability of your life the most?
Whatever came to your mind that you have been giving your whole heart to… remember you cannot give your heart and mind to something and not ultimately BECOME THAT THING. That thing will become your own god no matter how good or bad the idol may be.
We want to give our whole hearts and minds to GOD not to our idols.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands[b] of those who love me and keep my commandments.
God is jealous FOR YOU. He wants you. He wants you to live freely from idols that consume you. He wants you to be fulfilled by HIMSELF!
When we build our life from anything that can be taken away we will NEVER be fulfilled.
15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths, but do not speak;
they have eyes, but do not see;
17 they have ears, but do not hear,
nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them become like them,
so do all who trust in them.
29 Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man.
